Adobe reader X locking up when printing

I have run into several issues where users have reported they print a PDF and the print progress bar freezes and does not close.  both the print progress bar and adobe reader X are unresponsive.   In most cases the document will still print.  all of these issues happen after upgrading to adobe reader X.  I have been unable to find a solution for this.  I have tried uninstalling adobe reader and manually deleting files and registry keys left behind to the best of my ability but its possible I still missed something.

see if you are running adobeX in protected mode or printing image overlays as discussed in this link:

Sorry for the late reply to this.  the protected mode setting was the culprit.   Thanks.

Just as an add-on.  That didn't work for me when I had the same problem.  It turned out that the USB printer was set to print directly to the printer.  Once I set it to spool, all versions of Adobe on the system started to print again.
