SBS 2008 file/folder permissions: cannot copy files in the documents folder
When a user tries to copy a file from a folder in a user's documents folder (redirected to SBS 2008 box), she is denied permission, saying she doesn't have the right. On the server, when I query her user name in the Security tab, it confirms she has full rights to do anything. What is causing this?
when you configure folder redirection and select "Grant the user exclusive rights to My Documents" in the policy only the user who owns the folder has access to the folder. not even administrators have access by default. On that user's folder you will have to explicity assign permissions since the permissions on that folder are being inherited from the parent. You'll have to take ownership and then break inheritance on the folder. if you don't you will not be able to change permissions at that level.
