Transfer of Groupwise emails, folders and diaries from one server to another

We had a Groupwise server that malfunctioned and users can now only access it for historical emails, diary entries and contacts.

We have a new Groupwise server online and I have managed to export the contacts across for several users. Is there a way I can export the diary entries and emails for each user from the old server to the new one?

Clients are using Groupwise 8 and access both servers by changing the target IP address, but the old server does not send/receive mail.

Is there a way to copy/export everything users see when they connect to the old server, into the new server using their Client software?

Are they using the same username, login and password?  If so, they have the same File ID (FID).  The easiest but a bit time-consuming would have them log into the old server with the GW 8 client, go to the Tools | Options | Environment | File Location tab and set an archive location.  Then archive everything off the old server to a personal client archive.  It has to be done on a folder by folder basis (at least the top level folders).  Once archived, close the client from the old server and log into the new GW server.  Assuming the FID for each user hasn't changed, they can confirm the archive path and then go to File | Open Archive and see all of their old stuff.

If the FID isn't the same, there are utilities to change the old FID in the personal archive to the new FID on the new server.

Hope that starts you into the right direction.
