Exchange server 2010 name change?

When migrating from 2003 to 2010 Exchange.  Do we need to go to each client and redirect to the new Exchange hostname or it will be taken care during the mailbox move?  Would it work if some clients mailboxes moved and and some still on Exch 2003?  As regards to OWA, RPC over HTTPS, Activesynch, etc..

Thanks.

No, as long as both servers are online for a period of time together Outlook will automatically update itself to the new CAS server associated with Exchange 2010.

You can run in a mixed environment for as long as it takes, the Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 will route mail via a routing group connector which is created at install of Exchange 2010, there are some problems that can cause routing of mail issues and they are covered in my guide here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Email_Servers/Exchange/A_3044-Exchange-Server-Mail-Flow.html

Hi Demazter,

So currently client's outlooks pointing to Exchange2003.  How do they automatically updated with 2010.  Or... do I need to setup a routing group between two and name it as a current Outlook2003?

I am still not clear on that.  sorry.
