Apache - cronolog

I have made my Apache(2.2.17) to use cronolog(1.7.0). It is giving error:

piped log program '/opt/httpd/etc/scripts/cronolog --symlink=/httpd/logs/web-qa/ssl_request_log --period "1 hours" --time-zone=CST /htt
pd/logs/web-qa/OLD/ssl_request_log.%Y%m%d-%H%M%S' failed unexpectedly
/opt/httpd/etc/scripts/cronolog: invalid explicit period specification ((null))

The same cronolog is working fine for Apache 2.2.11
Do I need to use the --period parameter in someother way for Apache2.2.17 ?

I have configured cronolog in httpd.conf as below.

  ErrorLog '|/opt/httpd/etc/scripts/cronolog --period="1 hour" --time-zone=CST --symlink=/httpd/logs/web-qa/error_log /httpd/logs/we
b-qa/OLD/error_log.%Y%m%d-%H%M%S'

cronolog is redundant since long ago.... http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/logs.html#piped

In the link you have given, it has been given that cronolog is much more flexible. So please tell me how to use cronolog without the above error i have given.
