Outlook upgrade with hotmail sync problem

A client wants to upgrade outlook. It has a hotmail account linked in which isn't syncing properly. There emails on her laptop not on the web. Will an upgrade delete the local emails?

Hi there,

Your emails should be safe, however if you would like added security its really easy to quikly create a PST file and copy the email to that file.
You then have a backup copy with everything you want.

Here is a step by step guide provided by Microsoft that will show you how to make a backup.
