Intranet Auto Emails on Ipad

This is really just an initial exploratory question.  Our intranet is built on asp.net through VS 2010.  We recently began instituting, as a test, ipads on our shop floor in order to do some daily operations.  I had built a simple page on our intranet to enter some data, then on a button click send that data out in an email.  Now, for desktops, the page worked fine by using the user's outlook to send the email out.

Now, obviously this doesn't work out of the box on the ipad we are testing.  The intranet page can be accessed just fine, the data entry code works just fine, just the email code does not. Can anyone be so kind as to point to some kind of documentation that would allow my intranet program to access the email on the ipad to send this out?
