hello,

is it possible to connect 2 CISCO Switches (one 2960 and one 3560) with the
Cisco Catalyst 3560 SFP Interconnect Cable ???

or must i use the
GLC-T= 1000BASE-T SFP
connector for the 3650 switch and use then a normal CATx patch-cable

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps5528/product_data_sheet09186a00801f3d7d.html

thanks!

With Cisco Catalyst 3560 SFP Interconnect Cable you can connect only C3560 series switches only if there are on a short distance. C2960 switch doesn't support this cable specifications.

For this you have to use SFP GBICs (GLC) as per your distance or if you want to make trunk ethernet port on both switches to connect them with crossover cable...

thanks.... so this cable is functioning only between two 3560 switches?
also NOT between 3560 and 3750 ?

so it would be possible to use the GB copper port on the 2960 and a GLC-T SFP in the 3560 OR
a GLC-T SFP in the 3560 and the 3750 and connect the 2 ports with a "normal CATx" patch-cable...

right?

thx!

Yes, Interconnect cable properly functions only between 3560 series switches.

It may work between 3560 & 3750 but must be generating unsupported GBIC etc messages on consoles & might have some disadvantages too...

GLC-T compatible with all above switches 2960,3560,3750 & should work between each other too.
