Running Microsoft Office Pro, with Outlook for Mac 2011 (v14.0.2) on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.6. Don't know what exchange server we have but I think it's up to date and don't think anything has changed (I'm asking the IT folks).

In the past 3-4 days I am now getting constant errors that do nothing but alert me that an "An unknown error has occurred in Outlook. –50" has occurred with the details: "Mail could not be sent. Account name: [our corporate] Exchange". This doesn't in any way seem to effect my ability to actually send mail and I have no email in the outbox.

Any ideas on why this is happening?
Thanks

edit:
Outlook exchange server is 2007 v 08.02.0301.000

An unknown error (-50) occurred

One user found this solution: Run "Remove Office", then run Repair Permissions. Install from your CD and apply all updates. Restart and then run Repair Permissions again.

Found the problem: I had forwarded a meeting invite while on an iPad and that message was sitting in the "my computer" outbox. I could not see that outbox until I clicked on the "my computer" inbox. I deleted the message and the error resolved.

Not sure why the iPad moved the message to that outbox but I found other postings where this was the issue.
