Question: Migrating a Newsletter Site to WordPress

Greetings!

1. I manage a non-profit web site.
2. They publish bi-monthly articles.
3. Authors submit articles for consideration in the publication.
4. Some authors contribute only one article - ever. Some publish frequently (several articles a year).
5. The web site has a newsletter style layout (i.e. featured article, health & wellness, lifestyle, etc.)
6. They also archive all articles

The Goal: I want to move them to WordPress, but I am concerned about the logistics of publishing (given the info above) and how to represent a newsletter style layout in WordPress.

The Question: Are there any examples of Newsletter Style WordPress Sites which demonstrate this concept?

please advise,
thanks

Hi the_sleeper,

Logistically, none of this is that hard.  All users can have their permissions set so their contributions go into Pending or Draft status which leaves the final approval up to an admin or editor or people can just submit straight to publication.  Categories can be assigned, featured articles designated and all WP sites archive by default.

So the only remaining issue is which theme you use to organize and display the content and just about any of them will work for this.  Fortunately (and unfortunately) there are probably 1,586,340,374,623 "newspaper/newsletter/article" style themes available for WordPress both free and for pay.

Here's but one sample, and it may not even be to your liking, but it fills the requirements:
