MySQL Questions / Hanging Problem
I have a MySQL 5.0.45 production server that until very recently was fine. About a week, maybe two, ago, the server has started hanging every day to few days. This is installed on a Windows 2003 Server and when I try to restart the MySQL service, it will not do anything. The only solution is to reboot the entire server.
I am curious if anyone thinks an automated shutdown/reboot of the MySQL service would help this and if so, how would I accomplish that? Otherwise, open to suggestions.

Having never seen this issu directly, I would start looking more directly at te issue. What is causing it to hang. anything in event viewer any updates or major additions to the db My former boss wouldl ove to see me say this but setting up a random restart is a bandaid and doesnt really fix your real problem which could grow.

It must have been the 12GB log file. Once set up to purge nightly, MySQL stopped hanging.
