I'm just finished up a new install and saw there were updates that need to start ,  such as:
Update Rollup 5 for Windows Small Business Server 2008 (kb2458094)
The status has said in progress for about 2 days now.
And there are about 10 others in the same situation.

How do I fix this?
There is something there that says Restart Behavior: Can Request Restart
I don't know if this helps or not...

Depending on how the WSUS settings were set, that is to automatically approve and apply vs. require approval and notify, and all the possibilities between, you may just need to apply the updates.  Is there a yellow shield in the lower right of the task bar?  If so, open that and see if there are updates to be applied.

Also, updates will not be applied if there is a pending restart from any other source, including prior updates that requre a restart.

I didn't see a yellow shield in the lower right corner, but there were pending updates to be installed.
That must be  the problem.
I don't know why I didn't check the taskbar.... I got so used to using the SBS console.

Thanks!
