Email Account: Unable to receive external emails

There is one user in a domain where he cannot receive external emails, he can send and receive internal and external just fine and can send external just fine. Just not receive them.

I have double and treble checked the address it is being sent to is correct and I have even tried adding another SMTP address to make sure, but that wouldn't work either.

Anyone know whats going on here?

Thanks for your help!

Are the external senders receiving NDRs?  Are the external emails going to your exchange queue?
I can't see it pop up in the exchange queue and it delivers a NDR to the sender too.
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.

User unknown

Do you have access to the NDR.  Can you post it please.  Thanks.
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:      test
      Sent:      3/23/2011 1:47 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      jon@########.co.uk on 3/23/2011 1:48 PM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
            < ####.mailcontrol.com #5.1.1 SMTP; 550 5.1.1 <jon@########.co.uk>... User unknown>
From the EMC>Recipient Configuration>Mailbox, go the the properties of the user's mailbox.  Then access the email address Tab.  Is the correct email address or the one that the test was sent to listed in this tab?
I'm on exchange 2003 btw

Oh and yes it is there, i added another entry anyway and tried to email that too, but no luck.
it appears i have a conundrum :(

Is your mail hosted somewhere else?  Do you use a POP or IMAP connector to download mail to the Exchange server?

This sounds suspiciously like you host your mail offsite, and the offsite server doesn't have a mailbox for that user.
https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/#

Please run the Inbound SMTP Email test with the account that is having problems.
The exchange is inhouse, it isn't hosted. All the other accounts are fine just not this one.

I ran the test from testexchangeconnectivity.com and got the following error:

The server returned status code 451 - Error in processing. The server response was: 4.3.2 Please try again later
Exception details:
Message: Error in processing. The server response was: 4.3.2 Please try again later
Type: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException
Stack trace:
at System.Net.Mail.DataStopCommand.CheckResponse(SmtpStatusCode statusCode, String serverResponse)

at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message)
at Microsoft.Exchange.Tools.ExRca.Tests.SmtpMessageTest.PerformTestReally()
4.3.2 Is an error code that is a result of recipient's mail queue being stopped or frozen.  I am not sure why you are receiving this message when other accounts are working fine.

Ahh Craig, you might be onto something, I know the exchange isn't hosted as i put the local address in when i setup exchange profiles on pc's. But i didn't think about it being filtered.. Your right it is filtered by MailControl.

I can't login to Mailcontrol at the moment, but I will check that as soon as i can and get back to you.

Thanks for being persistant!! ;)

No probs :-)

You'll probably just need to add the account to the filter at MAILCONTROL.COM.
