Hi all,

I have a user who would like to know why his from and to fileds in his outlook inbox displays in different ways. Sometimes he only gets the user name, sometimes the fully email address, and sometimes the user name with the email address in brackets. I've checked to see whether this happens for internal company users only or not, but there seems to be no pattern. Below is an example where Joe Blogs works for abc.com
e.g.
From                                         To                                                                   Subject
Joe Blogs                                 Marge@company.com
Joe Blogs                                 Adam Smith (asmith@abc.com)
Silvya.Plath@xyz.com             Joe Blogs
Adam Smith                              Joe Blogs
Joe Blogs                                 Adam Smith

How does Outlook decide how to display each of these users/addresses?

Any help kindly appreciated.

Thanks.

It chooses first found and first found is usually cache.  on a reply it tends to use the default of the sender and then when physically choosing from a contact list it uses the default of the list.

I'm guessing therefore, there is no real way of getting outlook to only display in one way, such as all using email address or all using the name convention. Depending on how you reply/sent an email, it will pick up the different format (i.e. name, name(email), email) and therefore display it differently?
