How to get access to Vmware Storage VMotion after the trial periode?

Hi.

My trial periode for ESXi has expired, is there a another way to get access to svmotion? Would be great if one could buy 1day svmotion license :)

I need to move VM's storage to another datastore.

Thanks!

Well, you could look at all your ESXi configs you have set, then just simply reinstall ESXi :) Once reinstalled, reconfigure your host and you should have another 60days...

If you need to move the storage whilst the VM is up and running then you need SvMotion

If you can down the VM then you can do it from the CLI or using something like Veeam SCP - you'll simply have to remove the Vm from the VC and then re-add it after the move

Another option other than recreating your hosts/vcenter is to use the VMware Converter tool to V2V the server to another storage location while it's on.  It would work better for application servers and not Exchange or SQL servers but if you have no other options then this might work.

VMware grants you the right to test the software for 60 days. Once this period has expired, you have to apply valid license keys to be able to further use the software. If you need to expand the trial period, contact VMware sales or your VMware partner who may be able to provide a limited license for you.

Without a valid license key you will have to reinstall everything (the ESXi hosts as well as vCenter Server) to be able to further try the software. A new installation of an ESXi host will delete all partitions on the installation disk though. You can use a tool like Veeam FastSCP http://veeam.com to move the VMs to another host. Safer than trying to reinstall. You would need vCenter to enable vMotion in your case Storage vMotion

You dont need to reinstall anything at all if you dont need the VMs up

As per my previous post (which zohebansari reiterated a day later) you can use SCP to move VMs between datastores
