I think you are referring to RemoteFX USB redirection in SP1. for that You will need the following:

A RemoteFX-capable client (Remote Desktop Connection 7.1 or later)
A virtual machine hosted on a RemoteFX host ( running Windows 7 SP1 or later)

I am afraid that there is no RDP 7.1 client for Win XP yet and there don't seem to be plans for it anytime soon (or ever). 7.1 is supported on Win 7 and vista SP2.

However, if you absolutely need to it to work on XP, Here is a link that might help. ( I haven't tried it myself) The download will be available from April 1st (as seen on the website).
