Where are you receiving that message?  On the fax console?

On the fax console when I try to send a fax out, the voice comes on and says you must dial 1 and the area code, we have tried the area code even though it is a local fax just to be sure; and it still does not go through.

That really sounds more like a phone system or phone line issue than a problem with the fax itself.

If you plug a phone into the same phone line and dial out, do you get the same message?

I have not tried that yet, but I have sent a new phone line down to the branch to see if it makes a difference, I'll let you know the outcome.

hdhondt - Although I'm fairly certain this is a phone company or phone configuration issue, we can't really tell that for certain without the poster's input.  If they have not responded within a few days, I'd recommend deletion of the question.
thank you.
