I am building a website for a retailer which sale brand-name products. What is required and how do I get permission (if required) to use logos for the brand-name products on the web site. For instance, selling specific brand lawn mower and chain saws. What is required to use logos for these brand name products.

You will need an autorization from the owner of the logos. For instance, you may take a look at the guidelines from Adobe regarding the use of their logos and icons:

http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html

"You may not use Adobe product icons except under a written license from Adobe"

Other companies may require also a writen autorization for the use of their logos on your site. You should consult them before you put their logos on your site.

While the response did answer the question, it did not give any details how to go about getting permission.
