Hi Experts,

If i have a LUN for 3TB im not able to give 3TB to my datastore. Is there anything I missed. I can see the LUN size in viclient as 3TB but i can use only 1TB at a time.

I know I can use extents but will that not break the VMDK into many partions and wont it be a extra overhead if I use thin prov on my vms

2. If I have a LUN of 3TB i can create 3 Datastores will that effect the performance of the LUN and RAID.

Thanks

That is because the largest LUN you can create is 2TB-512B. Anything larger will  give you problems and will not work properly
