Trouble Installing HP Officejet 4500

When installing the printer on a Vista machine it gets most of the way through the install then I get a fatal error that is below

fatal error during installation

could not access network location %APPDATA%\.

it goes on to reference msi.devicemanager01.  HELP!

The HP site for that printer has two Vista Drivers (32-bit and 64-bit).

Sounds like a permission issue. Run subinacl

Install subinacl -download the reset.cmd script and run it. Reboot the computer. Try installing the HP software your issue will be resolved.

User ended up buying a new printer and returning the one in question

end user bought new printer because nothing suggested here or elsewhere online worked
