problem for startup

Here is some problems issued with startup
could you help me with that?

SQL> startup nomount;
ORACLE instance started.

Fixed Size                  1334380 bytes                                      
Variable Size             192938900 bytes                                      
Database Buffers          335544320 bytes                                      
Redo Buffers                5844992 bytes                                      
SQL> alter database open;
alter database open
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01507: database not mounted

SQL> connect /as sysdba
Connected.
SQL> show parameters control_files;

ORACLE instance shut down.

SQL> startup nomount;
ORACLE instance started.

Try this before you open the database

alter database mount;
