How to network 2 computer together

Hello there.

I have 2 machines and want to network them together.

1 machine is Windows 7 (64-bit), hard wired to the router. The router has WPA security encryption with a password.

The other machine is Windows XP home edition SP3 connected to the router wirelessly via a network adapter.

Both machines are already connected to the router ok because they can acces the internet.

How do you set up shared folders so that it is possible to tranfer files between the 2 machines.

There is also a printer attached to the WIN7 machine (not a network printer, just plugged into the usb port) and would like to share this so the WIN XP machine can print to it. Is this possible?

Please how do you go about setting this up.

This guide is a bit hard to follow for a novice like me. The instructions for networking 2 machines are a bit confusing because it's not entirely clear which machine each step is meant to be carried out on.

Got there in the end though so thanks for that.
