Dear Experts,

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Express on my Windows 7 32 bit laptop.

I downloaded SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe and run it. First I got a message that This program has known compatibility issues (Your version of SQL Server 2008 isn't compatible with this version of Windows. ) . So I downloaded SP2:SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.exe, then ran it, and after that I continued SQL servver installation I did not finf Management Tools, so I downloaded: SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe

I started this, got the same message regarding known compatibility issues, but since I already installed SP2, I proceeded with install. But for my surprise, I was going through the same steps and screens, that I went earlier with Server installation. So, going through familiar screens I finally got here:
(see attached) and cannot get any further.
Could you please help me with that and explain what am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much in advance,

Katsema Error message during SSMSE install

Hi there,

I have neen at this URL 10 times already. I press purple 32bit button on the right side there and get to Download page. Pressing Download button immediately gets me to "thank you for downloading" page
(http://care.dlservice.microsoft.com/dd/download/5/5/8/558522E0-2150-47E2-8F52-FF4D9C3645DF/SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe?lcid=1033&cprod=SQLEXP) but nothing is actually downloaded! I feel that I am losing my mind today.

How can I get over there?
Thanks,

Katsema

Thank you so much,

https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/pd/SQLEXPDBMT32/enus/
downloaded just fine.

Should I uninstall previous SQL server 2008 programs before I start this one?
Thanks.

R2 fails when trying to pass rules for previous version of SQL server 2008. It is missing SP1. I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 completely, but it still does fail at the same place. I already downloaded SP1, should I Sraty SQLServer install and then run SP1?
Thank you in for all your help

I finally got it installed without errors! Thanks!

SQLEXPRWT_x86_ENU.exe workes after I selected my own Named instance, not the default one.
