I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can put this formula in A2 and copy down to generate successive numbers

If you want to convert the list to fixed values rather than formula generated values then select column > Copy > Paste Special > Values > OK > ESC

Note: for 5000 rows this way avoids "copying down"

Put suggested formula in A2
in box above A1 type in the range you want, e.g. A2:A5000 > Press ENTER to select that range > CTRL+D to fill the formula into that range
