asked on

Business Vision and OE+

We have aquired a new client where the previous IT has jumped ship.

They are running Business Vision and OE+.
I was hoping I could get a brief understanding of the way this software is installed.

It appears to be SQL based.   There is also some kind of "Persausive " SQL agent on the workstations?
When you open a workstation it looks for a license in data share on the server... Then you need to map to a company file in the data share.

Can anyone please assist in helping me understand this software?

The database is called "Pervasive", it's an ISAM database based on Btrieve.  BusinessVision itself and Pervasive are installed separately.

What exactly do you need to understand about it?  How to use it, install it, back it up, etc.?

Thanks for the super fast response.

I wanted to get a feel for the overall client - server

They seem to primary go into OE+ - is this a module of BV?  Order Entry?

In terms of the server - I thought it was an SQL db but I guess it ISAM.
We will be replacing the server in the future as it is 8 years old - however for now I just want to understand the client

So we need to install first the Pervasive engine ,  then we install BV?  Then OE+?
I notice a Business VIsion folder gets created in the root of C:
Are there config files you need to modify to point to the server?
