Migrated from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 and aint working

Hello all!

I have to migrate a database from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008, the database will be located in a different computer.

I backed up the database on SQL 2005, and restore it on SQL 2008. No problems there.

When running the application (a legacy application in ASP 3.0), this is what I get:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d'
Login failed for user 'tecpetrol'.
/setpl.asp, line 9

So I deleted the user from the database, and from the Security-Logins treeview and recreated them exactly as before (same name, same password).

I assigned dbreader and dbwriter on the database to the user, everything like before, and this is the error I still get:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d'
Login failed for user 'tecpetrol'.
/setpl.asp, line 9

Any thoughts?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Ok, this is how to solve this problem:

On the SQL Server management studio, right click on the server, then properties.

Click on SECURITY and on Server Authentication select SQL Server and Windows authentication mode.

That's it, its working now.
