I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes you can do that. I have done that a couple of times but do not expect that your going to recover everything. I used a couple of them but promised result has arrived by Active Partition Recovery. You need to use Deep Scan which it will take sometime. Sometimes you can even recover some files from 3-4 formats.
Regards

Note: Software name partition recovery but recovers files aswell.

Hi,
All you need download Active Partition Recovery from http://www.partition-recovery.com/download.htm

Scan partitions and it will find your factory recovery partition. I have blown up my HPs recovery partition long time ago and needed system image after a couple of days and recovered whole factory image with this with no problem. Of course in your scenario some environmental variables may effect different way but this is the way. Using that recovery software is simple.
1-Super scan (It takes time be patient please :)
2-When you see your factory partition under simply right click on it recover (You must attach an external HDD or another HDD as it cannot recover the partition on to same partition logically.

Hi,
You need to purchase the product. With demo version you can scan find files but cannot recover them. Before purchasing you its good to scan your system first.
