I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is localconfig an OS command or sqlplus script?

Sqlplus scripts are typically in ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin

I'm on mobile and cannot look up that specific script but double check the doc you are going from.

While I was trying to create a database using Database Configuration Assistant a message was shown when I was trying to create asm where options like File Systems and ASM disk groups.
I could not go further and a message was displaying to install localconfig which is residing in
C:\app\Mathew\product\11.1.0\db_1\BIN\localconfig.

Based on that I did the above steps..
It ended up in above error message..
Bottom point is to create ASM disk groups...

And?

Again, it looks like an executable or Bat file not a sqlplus acript.

Try running it from a command prompt.

This is what I did..

C:\>set oracle_sid=orcl

C:\>@C:\app\Mathew\product\11.1.0\db_1\BIN\localconfig
usage:  crssetup <config | add | del | deconfig | ldel | lres
                         | ladd | shutdown | upgrade | help>
config   - configure and startup the cluster on nodes
add      - add specified nodes to the cluster
del      - delete the specified nodes from the cluster
deconfig - wipe out all cluster configuration information
ldel     - local css delete from oracle home
lres     - local css home reset to new oracle home
ladd     - local css add to oracle home
shutdown - shutdown the selected nodes
upgrade  - upgrade the specified nodes
help     - print out this information

C:\>@C:\app\Mathew\product\11.1.0\db_1\BIN\localconfig add
Step 1:  creating new OCR repository
Successfully accumulated necessary OCR keys.
Creating OCR keys for user 'mathew', privgrp ''..
Operation successful.
Step 2:  creating new CSS service
successfully created local CSS service
successfully added CSS to home

C:\>

Now I want to know the commands related to asm disks
How to query the information related to asm..

Technically this question was about the error running localconfig.  How to set up and use asm should probably be a new question.

I'm on mobile and can't help much.  I suggest you see what you can find in the online docs.

If you cannot find anything and no other Expert can help, I'll se what I can do when I get back to a real computer.
