I solved the problem before I got any replies, so I thought I would post the solution instead of just deleteing it. someone somewhere will have this problem too one day and I didn't find much about it on the web.

I destroyed my exchange2010 &nbsp;server so I reinstalled windows and when trying to reinstall exchange it complains that I have to use the recovery mode:<br />

setup.com /m:RecoverServer<br />
<br />
but when I do that I get this error:<br />

exchange server 2010 build 14.1.218.15 or later must be used to preform a recovery of this server.<br />
<br />
I believe this is exchange 2010 sp1 which would make sense because I had sp1 installed. But my CD doesn't have sp1 built in.<br />
