Outlook 2010, mailserver not found
Hey guys, I'm having problems setting up my Outlook account.
First of all, I started Outlook 2010 and it immediatly stated that I was missing my .pst file. I thought that was correct since it was the first time I started it. So I let it create a new .pst with a password.
Then I tried to create a new account, so I entered all data that was needed to connect, but... it didn't work.
it says "mailserver not found" both at incoming and outgoing mail, but I'm sure the mailserver is correct and so are the ports. the same data worked with outlook 2007. So, can anyone help me fix this problem?
thank you

I've done that, but it still won't work, it also looks like he doesn't even check if the mailserver excists. When I pree the button to test the account he immediatly says the nameserver isn't there... within a split second.
There is nothing strange about Outlook 2010. So check the mail servers ever so carefully. I have seen people find errors after triple checking. Check your port settings as some mail servers use incoming port 995 and then for outgoing, use authentication and a different port.
Check outgoing authentication and outgoing port and incoming port (all need to be correct) and then let us know. ... Thinkpads_User

I found it was the DNS settings
Now make a new account. Note that there is a new setting in Outlook 2010 that will make a new PST file for each new account. I generally uncheck this option.
Now make sure you have proper internet access and then set up a new account again. There is nothing different in Outlook 2010 compared to Outlook 2007 with respect to account settings and operation.
