Wireless Connect drops out

I have a home wireless network it consists of D-Link DWA-160 USB adapter and Dir-655 router.  My computer is a Dell Optiplex 960 running Windows 7.  My router is approximately 25 feet from the computer in an open living room.  The problem is that the wireless connection drops unexpectantly several times a day.  Under these circumstances I either have to restart the computer or run the D-Link Wireless Network Manager and reset the connection.  The problem seems to be related to the computer as the rest of my wireless network connections seem intact i.e: wireless radio, connections with iTouch, or my laptop wireless connection.  It does not make much, I had XP on the system and the situation was the same.  Looking for suggestions, I thought that due to the proximity of the adapter to router the signal strength would be good, but it is always poor.
