Setting the home folder in Active Directory
I'm trying to set the home folder in Active Directory for a specific user. My understanding is that setting the home folder to connect to drive U and \\Server\Users\Username would store the My Documents of that user to that folder on the server. When logging into the user account I see the U drive and can save files to the share but the my documents doesn't seem to be that saving to that U drive. Any ideas?
There is a wizard to run from the SBS console that will sort that for you. Redirect my docs etc
opps, It is on the shared folders and websites tab
Or you can do ti through group policy

Ok so do I not understand this correctly?

I'm running a WIndows Server 2008 R2 Standard, not SBS
The home folder is a separate area from the local my docs and you need to action the merge this would be done in group policy best as the Wizard will probably stick them somewhere else however you could then re map the U drive to wherever the wizard sticks them.

I guess exactly what does the Home Directory do besides creating a shared drive on the server? For my understanding setting the home directory makes the My Documents when logged in set to the home directory set on the server. No Yes?

From you giving me directions on how to set the My Documents to the Home Directory makes me wonder, what is the home directory for then? just to set a drive location on the server?
i creates a central place for user files to be stored on the server? have you gotten your folder redirection to work.
