Thunderbird3.19 client + Verizon = clear text passwords??
Does anyone know any information about this? I dont need a link to verizon on how to..but I am wondering if its at all possible to set up my TB client with a password that is secure? Would this be the incoming or outgoing? Which one sends the password? Thanks in advance.

Thank you. If they do not, do you have any recommendations on any particular provider?
gmail is widely used, but im not sure how good it works with TB it should though.
so does GMX mail. I do use GMX mail and it works with SPA.

ARGGG:
I have been spending another 2 hours on this..problem
#1 Although you can connect to the server securely, it still transmits passwords "normally" which does not imply encrypted so the whole world can see it.
#2 TB 2.0.0.4 and the latest refuses to download any emails even though it says it connects to the server just fine.

Sorry if I misunderstood. I thought SPA was "secure authentication." Which is what you said GMX supports? But when using the POP3 download, it allows TLS but it pops up a box that says the server does not suppoer secure authentication..when I try to check "secure"
SMTP is allowing 587 though and TLS. So are my passwords going in clear text in either session? Confused, sorry.

I haven't tried it on a mobile device since I don't have a phone that supports it.
ok I would not recommend trying gmx over secure many people having connection problems. I tried adding it to windows mail to see it it would work under secure and I can't connect. this problem has resulted 3 months ago. I was able to have secure the first 2 weeks I had the acct and I never messed with POP3 till recently and I was unable to use secure mode last night. I though they had it fixed but apparently not.
so I am withdrawing that recommendation till the issue is fixed.

normally MOST email providers do. this will be more secure. use complex passwords that only you know.
