Port Forwarding 1054 for Network IP camera - Port scan says warning ?

I was told for my Linksys Network IP camera to open a port anywhere from 1054 to 65,534.  I chose 1054 and now when I scan with Gibsons "Shields Up" See https://www.grc.com
I am being told I have a vulnerability at 1054.

Specifically "One or more unspecified Distributed COM (DCOM) services are opened by Windows. The exact port(s) opened can change, since queries to port 135 are used to determine which services are operating where. As is the rule for all exposed Internet services, you should arrange to close this port to external access so that potential current and future security or privacy exploits can not succeed against your system."

Am I at risk.

Also it tells me Port 80 is open and "The web is so insecure these days that new security "exploits" are being discovered almost daily. There are many known problems with Microsoft's Personal Web Server (PWS) and its Frontpage Extensions that many people run on their personal machines. So having port 80 "open" as it is here causes intruders to wonder how much information you might be willing to give away."

If I dont have port 80 open then how would I be able to surf the web ?

Do you need to acces the camera from locations other than your internal network?

Port 80 only needs to be open on the router if you are hosting a website for access from outside of your internal network.

Yes I need to access the camera from the outside...in fact the router tells me to open port 80 and and any port from 1054 to 65,534.  Thus, on my router I have IP address of the camera along with port 80 and 1024 forwarded...

From Linksys

"...Key features of the Linksys Wireless-G Internet Home Monitoring camera:

• Built-in Web Server that defaults on port 80 and also allows a secondary port to be selected if your ISP blocks port 80....."

If I remove the port forward on 80 the camera no longer works...can someone take files off my computer by me opening port 80 on the router..

note on the router the port forward page looks like 192.xxx.x.xxx 80 where 192.....is the ip address of the camera and then the port 80 being open for this ip address
The more extreme issue is when you have an open port and no service running on that port.
Since it sounds like you have a web server for the camera running on the ports you opened the risk is minimal.
Any time you open a port it increases risk but you have to balance that with the need for the service.

You are correct..I have my web server for the camera running via port 80.  If i did not have a service under the port and it was open how does it increase my risk...thus if I never bought my camera, but had 196.55.5 :80 open on router how is this a risk?
Software could be installed through spyware that would use port 80 to do any number of bad things. Again highly unlikely.
