Windows Live Mail has stopped working

In a new HP laptop running win7, tried to install Windows Live Mail (WLM).
Download and installation completed successfully, but unfortunately WLM never worked.
While opening the application, screen becomes grey and the message "Application has stopped working" appears on screen.

I tried to recover the application using "wlarp.exe " but with no success, and so I decided to uninstall/reinstall it. No success

I am running out of ideas.

Can anybody help me?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

have you tried right clicking the setup file and selecting 'run as administrator'?
also after it is installed try logging in with a different account (create a test one if you have to) and then using it, just to make sure it's not your account playing up

Acronis True Image 2019 just released!

Create a reliable backup. Make sure you always have dependable copies of your data so you can restore your entire system or individual files.

the account is member of local admins<< i'd still give it a go using 'run as administrator'
Try the below steps one by one,

Step 1: You must have turned on the troubleshooting for computer maintenance on Window 7. Please try to open Control Panel and turn off the switch. On my box, it is under: Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Troubleshooting -> Change settings.

Step2 : ->Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Installer
             ->Double click wlarp.exe
             ->Select the Repair Option and then click Continue
             ->Once the Repair Process has finished, restart your computer
             ->Try using your Windows Live Mail again…

Step3: Make sure your antivirus or any other security programs have all of their email scanning options turned off. The emailscaning option is a redundant feature.

If all goes well, your Windows Live Mail Stopped Working Errors should have gone..

Apart from Windows Mail you cal also try Incredible mail a free email web client for WindowsIncredible Mail
