Using backtrack as physical machine or VM for doing wireless network scanning and pen-testing with USB wireless card ?
Hi All,
I would like to know which one is possible or the most appropriate way of doing WLAN hacking and password cracking:
1. install BT4 R2 (http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads/) on the spare desktop PC as stand alone
2. install BT4R2 as VM on top of ESXi
but then I wonder if the ESXi VM can utilize the USB wireless LAN device as I'd like to perform WLAN scanning and security testing ?
Any idea and comment please ?

yes, hopefully that BT4u2 can detect my USB wireless adapter.
You should not have an issue with it picking up the USB adapter. Have fun!
