Forefront Installation

I serve several schools. The Anit-virus programs in the past have been centrally-managed Symantec or Sophos in a domain. I am testing an install of Forefront on an old server I have at home. I have been downloading trial software and trying to get it running. I am making progress, but it seems much more difficult than need be. First download and install SQL. Then download and install WSUS. Then download and install Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 R2 or R3. At this point, I am finalizing the prerequisites for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.

Is there a simpler way to do this that I am missing? I need to install this at 6 different locations. I am building my recipe for installation, but I am sure Microsoft must have a better way to do this.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

You have not said what you are installing.  Forefront is simply a Suite of about half a dozen individual stand-alone products,..so we don't know what you are really installing.

I only deal with ISA/TMG from Forefront,...but if you clarify your situation others here may be able to help.

ASKER

From what I have read online, I want Client Security for anti-virus and anti-malware. But, as I understand, that is no longer available and I need Forefront EndPoint protection.

you can also go for symantech End point protection
Symantec End Point Protection is what I am leaving. I felt it used too many resources and slowed down the computers.

Does that mean that you have had bad luck with Forefront?

Thanks for your comment.

After much research, I decided the places where I work are not large enough networks to use all the items that need to be installed for Forefront to work.

I chose AVG.
Sounds reasonable. I would agree.  Sometimes (most of the time?) simpler is better.
