USB auto-detectnot working in VMware 4

Hello,

I have a USB to serial converter cable that I am trying to get installed on a vm host windows 2003 server. I have added the usb controller in the guest os and made sure to have the window open when I plug in the device but still nothing shows up in the device manager.

Any ideas?

thanks

I would expect you have to install the drive on the host also, in order for it to be able to be passed-through to the client.

Not all USB devices are compatible with USB PassThru'.

How do you install the usb cable to the host?
It's normal to add the drivers, when requested with USB not before, but if you are not "see-ing" the device in the VM Host when you connect the USB serial adaptor to the Host Server, it may not be supported.

What server do you have, does it support USB Passthru'?

What USB serial adaptor model do you have?
