Exchange message appears in tracking, but not in inbox - makes owa iPhone 'ping'
I have just encountered a very odd situation.
A user was complaining that messages from a specific address (autonotify@foo.com) were not being received. This address is not special in any way, it is a standard alphanumeric address, no unicode or other 'oddness'
Message tracking results indicate that these messages are in fact being delivered.
A message sent to our mailserver via SMTP (telnet in ehlo... etc etc.) with the same mail from: address also fails to be delivered
A spoofed message with the same mail from: address fails to be delivered if I send it to a brand new account.
(create account, log into webmail, send message. All come though except that from address)
During testing I noticed the same thing happens when I spoof a message to myself, however my iPhone 'pings' to let me know I've got a message - so the message is definitely hitting the inbox then disappearing without a trace.
If i remove a single character from the address anywhere it works, so utonotify@foo.com or autonotif@foo.com are both good. This must be a filter in exchange somewhere.
I've used MFCMapi to inspect the inboxes, and there is no trace of the message (that I can see)
I've tried using the whitelist to no avail:
Set-ContentFilterConfig -BypassedSenders autonotify@foo.com
What could the cause of this be?
thanks for looking :-)

Are there any rules set up in Outlook to delete the message?

There are no exchange addons.
There is a baracuda spam firewall in place in front of the exchange server, but it's set to auto whitelist the messages.
Delivering a message direct to the exchange server instead of the MX record address works.
It must be something the barracuda is sticking into the header of the message.

Yup, turned off "add extra headers" in barracuda. Works now.
