max PST in Outlook

I have a user that has 12 PST files, he is unable to open all the PST files.  For example when we open # 5 it won't open, so we try to open # 6 and it labels it # 5 but has the content of # 6 and so on.  I looked at the properrties of each PST and it is labeled correctly.  HELP!

Our systems have 3Gb of mem.  I've scheduled him to be migrated to Enterprise vault.

All at once? Create new Outlook profile. Import pst's one at a time untill are are in one pst. Why 12 pst's?

Also be aware of size limits for pst's and how to adjust them.

In your case, I don't think it's a problem of the number of PST (you can open more than12 PSTs !)
Your profile is certainly corrupted. I recommend you to create a new profile and add PST files in this new profile

I will try createing a new profile when the user is available.  To make a long story short, we have many people using PST and about 1/2 the company is on EV.  The better solution is to use EV not PST's but the company won't pay for the required lic (but they are willing to pay for my time and the users time to manage PST's)  We are not running into the 2Gb limit with any of these PST's, they are pretty small.

PSTs aren't limited to 2 GB !
Old PST (created with Outook 2000/2002) are limited to 2GB.
PST files created byt Outlook 2003/2007/2010 are Unicode and are limited to 20 GB, but I recommend to not have to big PST files, because of performance of Outlook

In that case, it's a problem on your machine.
Perhaps, you haven't enough memory, otherwise your Outlook setup has some problem

The other comments were good places to look, but in ther end Enterprise vault seemed to be a better solution.
