Accessing cisco 837 router publicly but securely

Hi,

I am replacing a modem with cisco router from one of our branch office. If I want o access it publicly but securely, how do I set this router.

What command lines I need to configure this router?

Thanks in advance

I would like to add to vikrantambhore post that telnet traffic is sent in plain text so not very secure, I would suggest using SSH instead if you go with this option.

cisco(config)#hostname HOSTNAME
cisco(config)#ip domain-name DOMAIN.com
cisco(config)#crypto key generate rsa

cisco(config)#Line vty 0 15
cisco(config-line)#Password cisco
cisco(config-Line)#login local
cisco(config-line)#exit
cisco(config-line)#transport input ssh
cisco(config-line)#exit

Another option is to setup a vpn to your network using easy vpn throught the SDM.  Then just VPN into your network and then telnet/ssh to your router.

You can Access it publicly  by Telnet, & You can configure thi as per below

cisco(config)#Line vty 0 15
cisco(config-line)#Password cisco
cisco(config-Line)#login
cisco(config-line)#exit

cisco(config)#line vty 0 15
cisco(config-line)#login local
cisco(config-line)#exit
