Use laptop as console screen?

Hi all,

I have a linux software firewall running on a pc as a pseudo hardware device.

I need to change a bios setting but our office only has these all-in-one pcs so I don't actually have a monitor that I can plug into the firewall to see the bios. The keyboards are also blluetooth.

To make this change, I'll have to bring in my screen from home plus a keyboard plus cables.

As an IT admin, I know I need this stuff here, but if there is some software or a method to use a laptop as a screen, I would rather do that.

Possible?

Thanks Veedar: You're right not cheap, but you've given me the language of what I need to search for. Scott - I recokon your idea would be cheaper if I had tv...

To save the cash, I'll BYO, but I will continue to search for a cheaper adapter.

Cheers!
KVM-over-IP device.  Uses a web(java) client or Windows software client to connect to the device, which is plugged into a KVM or directly into a single server.

I have Aten CN-5000 and CN-6000 units.  There are others from other manufacturers.  Invaluable when you're working on network settings, which would normally kill your remote desktop session.  Also good for watching POST and bootup sequence and get into BIOS and RAID controller settings before the OS loads.

You would need a video input on the laptop. A TV/Video capture card should do the trick.
But it depends on what video connector the firewall has.

If DVI it is best to get a video capture card with component input, and get an adapter that converts the DVI to component. You could also get a card with HDMI input and an adapter to convert the DVI into HDMI. The AVerTV HD DVR has a HDMI input.

If VGA connector, then convert it into s-video would probably be the cheapest.
