How can I remove this Word 2007 formatting?

Contained within this question are images from my Word 2007 document.  Notice the formatting to the right of the vertical bar (vertical bar is on the far left of the page).  What is this strange formatting with the underlining and especially how do I remove it?  I have searched for 2 hours for an answer and have found no solution. Thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello,

this looks as if the document has been edited with Track Changes turned on. Click the Review ribbon. Click Track Changes to switch the feature off, then click the Accept command drop-down and select "Accept all changes in document". This will make the funny formatting go away.

cheers, teylyn
