If you are using the licensed versions of ESX 3.5 and ESXi 4.1 you can use the following FREE solutions:- (the free version of ESX does not allow access to the licensed API).

I read about the ghettoVCBg2 and it requires VMware VIMA 1.0 or VMware vMA 4.x... is that something that I can download and install to my esx3.5?

my esxi4 is of the free version so may need to use the second link's approach...

If you are using the Free version of ESXi 4.0 you cannot use ghettoVCBg2.

What version of ESX 3.5 are you using? U1, U2 etc?

VMware vMA applicance is a download from VMware.

ESX 3.5u2, u3 and u4 have been tested.

you have VMware ESX Server 3.5 Update 1.

I would test it and see if it works, if you have issues you may need to upgrade.

Before upgrading I would test with U1, there are always dangers and risks when upgrading.
