Need to move Exchange 2003 mailboxes in one domain to Exchnage 2007 in another
Here's my situation. I have a customer who recently bought a smaller company and we want to bring all email users onto one Exchange server (Exchange 2007). One of the locations has an existing Exchange 2003 server, but of course in their own domain. I want to get those mailboxes onto the Exchange 2007 server and have those users connect to that server to get their email.
From what I'm seeing, it looks like creating .pst's of the 2003 user mailboxes and importing them onto the 2007 server is what will work. Do I need to create user accounts in AD prior to putting the mailboxes onto the 2007 server? If anyone out there has done something similar and can let me know the best procedure...it would be much appreciated!

Yes AD account and mailbox will be required. PST option is ok.

So create the user account and mailbox on the 2007 server. Export the 2003 mailboxes to .pst. Can someone give me some insight on importing those mailboxes onto the new server?

Not a large number of users or large amount of data, and there are a couple of public folders being used on the 2003 server.
We would prefer the users to log into the new domain eventually so there will only be a single sign on point...but initially they will likely be logging on to their current domain.

If we want to go with the .pst option, will that work? If anyone out there has done it that way and could give me an idea of what's involoved...that'd be great.
