I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, you can upgrade x86 2003 to x86 2008.  Most experienced admins would do a clean install to ensure a stable system, but if you're adventurous, you can do it.

Yes, Small Business Server 2008 uses Server 2008 and Exchange 2007 but is 64 bit ONLY!  Small Business Server 2011 uses 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010 and is also 64 bit ONLY (the last 32 bit version of SBS made and that will ever be made is SBS 2003).
