Video Conversion Advice Required
I have just bought a JVC camcorder. One of the issues with it is that it only saves video files in .WMV format. The size of the original size in. WMV format is 12MB for a 1min 6sec video.
Thereafter I have used a video converter software program to save as .mp4 format.
The video output (conversion) settings are as follows:
Video codec: mpeg4
frame size: 640 x 480
Bitrate: 1024
Framerate: 30
Encode Pass: 1
The audio output (conversion) settings are as follows:
Audio codec: aac
Bitrate: 128
Sample Rate: 44100
Audio Channel: 1
The result is a video file that is 9MB is size.
Can anyone advise how I can compress the video into a smaller file or what I can do to keep video file sizes below 2MB as this is the max file size for 2MB. I am at a complete loss on how I would:
(a) keep video files less than 10 mins (recommended by YouTube)
(b) keep video files less than 2MB (recommended by YouTube)
Given the file size relative to time recorded, if I recorded a 10 min video the file size would be just too big to stand a chance of keeping the file under 2MB.

Solution to the above including best video output format and also any video conversion/compression software to resolve the issue.

The best format today is H.264 (MPEG Advanced Video Format), so the answer is Handbrake. Free, easy and the quality is superb.
Download it here
http://handbrake.fr/
To get 2MB files, just go to the video tab and use put 2 on "Quality - Target Size (MB)" option.

Merete,
I have personally called customer support at JVC and they have confirmed that the Everio GZ-HM435 is limited to only exporting in wmv format. Very short sighted of JVC, but exporting in mp4 is not an option.
Best,
David
