Cisco ASA 5505 - Maximum Memory Upgrade + Compact Flash Supported

I am looking at upgrading the memory and compact flash card installed.

I currently have 128MB of Flash and 512MB of Memory installed.

Does anyone know if I use another manufactures compact flash card if it will work I was looking for about 2GB of Flash. and about 1GB of Memory

I did see a website showing a similar upgrade but was not sure if the ASA already had 512MB installed and thus I only needed 512MB module to do the increase to get 1GB

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Afaik the 5505 isn't able to hold more than the memory you currently have. So even if you can find something from another manufacturer it isn't likely that it will work :-~

Cool! Looks like you're right (never too late to learn :). So I did some digging:

Hi Guys, I actually just upgraded the Compact Flash card and RAM last week on my Security Plus 5505. I used Corsair Value Ram VS1GB400C3 (1GB) and a 2GB SanDisk Ultra II CF card. I have had no issues or strange behavior. The original 256MB ram stick has a Viking sticker - viking the company, not a picture of a nordic warrior :-)

I am running 8.3(1) & ASDM 6.3(1)

Hardware: ASA5505, 1024 MB RAM, CPU Geode 500 MHz
Internal ATA Compact Flash, 2048MB
BIOS Flash M50FW080 @ 0xfff00000, 1024KB

Did you try 2GB RAM by any chance?
M_PereraCommented:
Nevermind, I take back the question of 2GB as pc3200 does not have 2GB single stick.
