How to activate a BES device in BlackBerry enterprise Server 5.0.2?

Hi,

I'm new to Blackberry and have a test environment for BES 5.0.2. I wanted to know how shall I activate my blackberry device? what are the steps?

I am logged in to BAS web console. What information i need?

I have connected my BB device to my computer and ma remotely accessing my BES Server BAS webconsole.

Also i have windows 7, 64bit. should i necessarly have to install BB device desktop software in order to activate the device?? coz i  do not have a wireless connection

on you connect BB device thru USB did you recive from BB device any message or from Windows

In the BAS console, add the user you want to activate and set an activation password (something like "bb")
From there, the blackberry user should be able to go to enterprise activation on their phone and activate their phone.

I tried it and on the BB device it just says that it is trying to conenct to the server....for long time then says, cannot find the server and gives option for retry, if retry is clicked then again long wait with no result.

OK. You need to make sure your BES is activated on the RIM network.
You should have an SRP number and a login to Blackberry.
You need to login there and check the status of your server and make sure it says connected.

which website/link ? and I dohave SRP number but where can i find the login username?

This is the login for the BES support.
If you paid for this, you should have a login and password.
If not, then just call BES support or your sales rep and they will give you that login info.
