installing C++ on ISA Server 2004

Hi Guys,

Need your opinion. We'll be installing monitoring agents on our ISA 2004 servers and one of the requirements is to install C++ on it. You think it's ok to do so? Just wanna be sure if it does not hamper ISA server's operation.

Thanks.

None that I am aware of - only anecdotal in the sense that almost all of us already have it deployed on our ISA/TmG boxes as part of reporting or monitoring add-ins.

You mean the redistribution package? No issue.

Thanks Keith. Any assurance that there will be no problems when installing this on ISA servers? Perhaps a reference article or something? Just wanna make sure that everything will be ok.

lol - not much else we can tell you really.

I have been a Microsoft MVP for ISA Server since 2005 and I have getting on for 1000-ish ISA Server and FTMG Server installations behind me and have installed the C++ redistribution package on a good many of these. There is no specific guidance document on whether this is supported or not in the same way that there is no document to state specifically that you cannot install net monitor on an ISA server or FTMG server. In the absence of specific 'don't do it' then you generally take guidance from the next level down which would be the OS and we know that the C++ redistribution pack is supported for the Windows 2003 OS.
